“Sayonee” (Urdu: سیونی, strict English interpretation: “Soulmate”) is a tune by the Pakistani sufi Rock Band- Junoon, released in April, 1997. It is the main track from the band’s fourth collection, Azadi (1997), released on EMI Records. The song was written by lead guitarist and originator of the band Salman Ahmad and author Sabir Zafar, it is the lead single on the collection, the tune utilizes mixes of Rock guitars and soul-filled vocals with customary Pakistani melodic components like the tabla percussion drums, Hindustani raga-propelled songs styled and mixed into Pakistani society music.
